Bob Yari
Bob Yari (born 30 May 1961 in Iran) is a Jewish Iranian-American film producer and president of Bob Yari Productions.
After spending his youth in Iran and New York, producer Bob Yari would go on to pursue a degree in Motion Picture Cinematography at the University of California in Santa Barbara. He was once married to Mary Apik, well-known Iranian-American actress. The two have a son.
Yari has produced a number of highly successful films; his credits include the Academy Award-winning "Crash", as well as the romantic comedy "Laws of Attraction" and the compassionate indie film, "Thumbsucker".
Crash is a 2005 American produced drama film. The film is about racial and social tensions in Los Angeles, California. It won three Oscars: Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing in 2005 at the 78th Academy Awards.
Several characters' stories interweave during two days in Los Angeles; a black LAPD detective estranged from his mother, his criminal younger brother and gang associate, the white District Attorney and his irritated and pampered wife, a racist white police officer who disgusts his more idealistic younger partner, an African American Hollywood director and his wife who must deal with the officer, a Persian-immigrant father who is wary of others, and a Hispanic locksmith and his young daughter.
Bob Yari was awarded the 2011 Noor Film Festival Achievement Award.
