Biography

Tarantist is an Iranian Metal band that formed in Tehran in 2000.

Brothers Arash and Arsalan, formed metal rock band TarantisT in Iran in the year 2000.

Arash and Arsalan both learned to play music when they were only six years old (Arash is three years older than Arsalan). Arash started by playing Santoor (a stringed musical instrument), while Arsalan started by playing guitar, which later raised Arash’s interest to learn to play guitar. After learning to play lead guitar, Arash got interested in playing bass guitar and has been ever since. Arash composes all of the music and write the lyrics. Arsalan adds many riffs and has other inputs. Also, Bahman, who plays guitar and also pitches in with the vocals, has had some inputs.

TarantisT

During the past few years TarantisT has had some underground and on-the-ground concerts in Tehran, they even won a gold prize in a festival organized by Tehran Municipality! They were the only rock band who participated. While the sponsors tried not to allow them to play, they still managed to rock the house and win the gold medal.

TarantistT has had concerts in Europe, Middle East (Dubai) and has been touring USA in 2008.

Tarantist has been an underground band since the year 2000; a time when there were not many devoted fans of metal in Iran. After all in Iran it is a new wave of music for the fans of metal in this country. Metal has many sub-genres, ranging from Death Metal to Industrial metal, and every time a new genre is created by a band, they take influence from genres of Metal hence creating something new or rather new. Generally all new things don't necessarily stand out, for example a new brand of a shoe by a company might not last for a year and eventually end up ripped and torn.
