نهال ایروانی ثانی
نهال ایروانی ثانی معاون بازپرسی بخش قضایی سانتا کلارا در کالیفرنیا است. او از سال ۱۹۹۵ در همین حوزه دادستان جنایی بوده و در طی این مدت دادگاههای متعددی مرتبط با طیف وسیعی از جرایم را اداره نموده است. در سابقه وی رسیدگی به پرونده های جرایم مرتبط با مواد مخدر، خشونت های خانگی، بزهکاری نوجوانان و سرقت دیده می شود. او در حال حاضر در واحد حفاظت از محیط زیست و مصرف کننده مشغول فعالیت است و در آنجا بیشتر به تخلفات افراد و شرکتها از قوانین زیست محیطی رسیدگی می نماید.
نهال ایروانی در سال ۱۹۶۹ (۱۳۴۸ شمسی) در تهران متولد شد و ۱۰ ساله بود که به آمریکا مهاجرت کرد. او در سال ۱۹۹۰ لیسانس خود را در رشته بوم شناسی اجتماعی با گرایش جرم شناسی و مطالعات حقوقی ار دانشگاه کالیفرنیا-ایرواین دریافت و سپس در سال ۱۹۹۳ مدرک حقوق خود را از دانشکده حقوق دانشگاه سانتاکلارا اخذ نمود. نهال در زمان دانشجویی عضو افتخاری هیأت منصفه دادگاه منطقه ای بود و جایزه ارزشمند بورس تحصیلی انجمن فارغ التحصیلان را دریافت نمود.
نهال ایروانی ثانی معمولا" در سمینارهای دانشگاهی یا مناسبتهای اجتماعی در حوزه تخصصی اش سخنرانی می نماید. او در حال حاضر مدرس دروس حقوق در دانشکده حقوق دانشگاه سانتاکلارا است. او همچنین رئیس انجمن وکلای ایرانیان امریکایی است که یکی از فعالترین انجمن های وکلای غیر امریکایی در امریکا می باشد و در حدود ۱۵۰۰ عضو در نه منطقه کلان شهری امریکا دارد. وی همچنین به مدت طولانی سابقه همکاری با اتحاديه روابط عمومي ايرانيان در آمريکا (پايا) را دارد و اکنون رهبر بخش منطقه خلیج آن است.
نهال ایروانی در حال حاضر با همسر و دو پسرش در منطقه خلیج در حومه سانفرانسیسکو زندگی می کند.
Nahal Iravani Sani is a Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara County, CA. She has been a criminal prosecutor with the office since 1995 having been the sole lead trial attorney on a variety of felonies through all phases of the criminal justice system. Her assignments have included serving on the Narcotics, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, and Burglary units. She is currently serving on the Environmental and Consumer Protection Unit, where her practice area focuses on prosecuting both individual and corporate violators of environmental crimes.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Nahal Iravani-Sani immigrated to the United States in 1979, when she was 10 years old. Iravani-Sani earned her B.A. in 1990 from University of California, Irvine in Social Ecology, with an emphasis in Criminology and Legal Studies. She earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1993. While in law school, Ms. Iravani-Sani served on the Honors Moot Court Board, received the prestigious Alumni Scholarship Award and was a Public Interest Award recipient. She is a frequent speaker and panelist at law school events and in the community. She is married and lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two sons.
Currently, Ms Iravani-Sani is a Lecturer of Law at Santa Clara University School of Law, in Trial Techniques. She is also President of the Iranian American Bar Association (IABA), one of the most active minority bar associations in the United Sates, with 1500 members in nine metropolitan areas. Iravani-Sani has a history of service on the national Board of Directors of the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) and serves as its Chapter Leader in the Bay Area.
On a personal level she says, "what may not appear as traditional line items on my bio, but which I believe have shaped and defined my past decade, are motherhood and community involvement. I have chosen to work part-time in order to balance my career with community involvement (Iran Anti-war resolution w/ NIAC, helping organize a clothing drive to Afghanistan, phone banking for the Obama campaign, etc.), and the most important role of motherhood (volunteering at school – Art Vista, Project Cornerstone, Garden Parent, etc.). Most relevant, Ms. Iravani-Sani is currently working with her sons' elementary school in order to add Iranian culture education to the curriculum.
