Hossein Behroozinia
Hossein Behroozinia was born 1962 in Tehran. At the age of nine, he was accepted into Tehran's Conservatory of Music, to learn Tar under the supervision of Reza Vohdaney, and Oud under the guidance of Mansour Nariman. His other teachers were masters Reza Vahdani, Mansour Ebrahimi (Nariman) and Mohammad Reza Lotfi. He later specialized in playing Barbat.
Hossein Behroozinia taught extensively at the Tehran Conservatory of Music and the Center for Preservation of Music. He was a member of the celebrated ensembles Mowlana, and Aref before joining the famed Dastan Ensemble in 1992. He has established classes in Persian music in Vancouver, Canada where he currently resides with his wife and two children. He has had the privilege to collaborate with many of the eminent voices of Iranian legacy, such as Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Shahram Nazeri, Parisa, Sima Bina, Iraj Bastami and Ali-Reza Eftekhari.
The L.A. Times describes Behroozinia's work as "spectacular musicianship."

Hossein Behroozinia has performed on numerous albums of celebrated Iranian composers as well as on all the released works of Dastan Ensemble since 1992, playing the Barbat.
