Born in Tehran, his interest in arts started with calligraphy, painting and later singing. His first concert in Los Angeles in 1993 attracted some 2000 fans. He lived in Europe and Israel between 1997 and 2002 and returned to the U.S. to a concert in Universal Amphitheater, reportedly attended by some 6000 fans. He has since performed at many popular concerts including several charitable events.
Biography
Omid was born in Tehran and his interest in arts started with calligraphy, painting and later singing. After being drafted into the Army for 15 months and fighting against the invasion of Iraqi army in the 1980's, he moved to Turkey and later U.S. to continue a career in singing. His first major concert in Los Angeles in 1993 at Hollywood Palladium, attracted a crowd of 2000 Persian fans.
He produced 3 successful albums while in Los Angeles but in 1997 his visa expired and he had to leave U.S. for Europe and Israel.
He returned to the U.S. in 2002 for a concert in Universal Amphitheater which was attended by an estimated 7000 fans. He has since entertained his fans and performed at many popular concerts including several charitable events benefiting the victims of the Bam Earthquake and young Iranians in need of heart surgery.
